Re: [Resolved] Implementation via GPO

I've done quite a bit of testing, and yes, it works manually when running with an admin account.
For now, I've used an encrypted RunAs command, but that's not a good solution because the encryption can be broken.

The computer GPO doesn't work at all. I tried creating just a folder with a batch file, and it's impossible.
However, the user GPO works fine but requires a login for WaptSetup.

If anyone has a solution, I'd be very grateful.
Thank you

Do you have antivirus software? Do you have any other GPO scripts running?

Just for testing:

Could you run waptdeploy.exe locally on the machine and then configure it as a local GPO (using gpedit.msc) to see if it works?

I don't know if there's a debug or log function for waptdeploy.exe to check if it was successful.

Good morning,

No antivirus, firewall off. No other GPOs, I'm on a test environment.

When testing the GPO locally, nothing happens either.
- Computer GPO
- Execute the script C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\Scripts\Startup\waptdeploy.bat at startup

Code: Select all

@echo off
start c:\waptdeploy.exe
The problem is not with waptdeploy or waptsetup, it's that the computer GPO is not being applied.
However, the user GPO applies but does not have the rights to install waptsetup

To check if this is indeed a problem, you can do the following:

Code: Select all

@echo off
mkdir c:\toto
To determine if it's truly a GPO issue or a waptdeploy.exe problem

Hello,

after searching for several days, it turns out you just need to add a GPO that allows a script to run only when the computer has an internet connection.
It would be good to edit the documentation to save people like me the trouble of searching.

For a script to run correctly if it's in the domain's sysvol, you need to tell it to install the script as soon as it has internet access.
Computer Group Policy: Policies -> Administrative Templates -> Run startup scripts asynchronously
