Are src.rpm files available?

Hello,
I'm using your RPMs but I'd like to start rebuilding them to add a patch. Are your source RPMs (src.rpm) available somewhere?

Thanks,

Vincent

We reuse Fedora packages that we backport to CentOS. And the compilation is a bit more complicated than just running `rpmbuild` on the Samba `src.rpm` because of dependencies like libldb, libtalloc, libtevent, Python 2 vs. Python 3, etc. The complete recipe is in our Jenkins repository.

Is the patch you want to install the one to fix the upgrade issue from 4.7 to 4.8.1? I think we'll integrate it this week.

Hello,
Is it possible to access your .spec files and your Jenkins recipes for Samba (read-only, of course)?
Let me explain: I thought you regularly updated your Samba RPMs. Versions 4.8.3 and 4.7.8 have been out for a while now, and I'm wondering about the operational risk of continuing to use your RPMs: unsigned binary RPMs, undistributed/unpublic src.rpm files.
In other words, it would be impossible to rebuild the RPMs by updating them if you (tranquil.it) all went on vacation at the same time. :)
Would it be possible, at the very least, to distribute the differences between your .specs and those of EPEL? Any starting point would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Vincent (who works for an open-source publisher that distributes all the src.rpms but uses -your- RPMs personally).

Hello,

I agree with ElCoyote.

Do you have a release date for the RPMs for version 4.7.8?

There is a new repository with samba 4 with Domain Controller for CentOS and RHEL 7 that also provides the source packages:

Jérémie placed the SRPM files in the following directory:

https://samba.tranquil.it/centos7/SRPMS/

We will see later how to create a nice standard CentOS/RedHat directory structure.

Sincerely,

Denis

Thank you, that's very much appreciated.
Do you think you can continue to upload .src.rpm files systematically when you release new versions?
That would be absolutely fantastic. Thanks again
Sincerely,
Vincent

Tranquil IT cannot commit to such a promise because it is work and all work must be compensated.

We will do it as long as we find an advantage or a way to make the most of that time.

Sincerely.
