Hello,

I'm a new user of the WAPT solution and I'd like to know if it's possible to create machine groups, particularly in the graphical console?

Because with a network of over 1000 workstations to manage, if I can't create machine groups, it will quickly become unmanageable.

Currently, the concept of a group corresponds to the concept of a package.
All machines that have the same "group" package as dependencies belong to the same group. If a software package is added to this group, all machines in the same group will receive it.
To associate a set of machines with a group, you need to select multiple items in the console, right-click, add a package or package group, check the groups, and confirm.

Installing applications based on the operating system isn't easy without machine groups and visibility in the console inventory.
Either you know your entire network intimately, or you're lucky enough to have the same OS in the same location (version and architecture), in which case you can rely on machine names.

The other option would be to be able to apply groups and/or packages to specific operating systems.

WAPT can detect the OS, architecture, etc., of machines. The procedure it should use, depending on the machine's specifics (for example, the 7-Zip package), must be specified in the setup.py file.
It is also possible to manage machines via groups.
