[RESOLVED] Disk space full

Hello,

I installed my WAPT server on a virtual machine with a 40GB hard drive.
Having left the default partitioning during the Debian installation, my VAR partition is only 4GB.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to increase this partition size or another solution?

Thank you.

To increase disk space, you can follow any relevant Linux documentation. It will depend, in particular, on whether you are using LVM or not. You can also look into GParted.

Sincerely,

Denis

To get back to the point, a 40GB physical drive will fill up quickly. Just two or three versions of MS Office and two or three versions of Adobe Creative Suite will fill your drive.

As an aside, the largest WAPT package we've ever seen is 70GB; it's a full version of National Instruments software from a CNRS laboratory.

If you don't want to perform any complex operations beyond what's strictly necessary, I would strongly advise you to use a larger physical drive.

The online documentation suggests a starting point of 30GB, but this suggestion assumes a WAPTserver installation in a VM, where allocating more space is a simple matter—three clicks and it's done.

If you're using a physical WAPTserver, don't try to save on storage space; you'll pay for it many times over with the time it takes later to transfer or rebuild your WAPTserver to a larger storage device.

Sincerely,

Vincent

Hello,

thank you for your replies. It is indeed a VM running Hyper-V. However, Hyper-V does not support GParted (no mouse).
