Good evening... okay, given the time: Good morning!
First of all, thank you for your quick response to my message. I rushed to download the new version and install it, but alas! I got an error. That's a great start... because I'm on Windows 10 and the notifications aren't quite there yet (neither your software, but that's normal, nor Windows). I only had time to see something like SHA1 or some other digital signature.
Well, not wanting to look like a complete slacker, I went and got the latest MSI version (7.5) and made a basic package, keeping the unsinstallkey and the basic tags:
/q /norestart.
Second step: I tried to install it on my computer, but still an error. Just to be sure, I uninstalled version 6.11 (which was still there) manually, and miraculously, it worked!!! Woohoo!!
To check that the problem wasn't with Windows 10, I installed the package on a Windows 7 machine, and even worse, I got error 1638 (I still don't know what that means). I tried the same procedure, manually uninstalling version 6.11, and finally everything worked.
So, all this to say that even though I'm not sure your version 7.4 is the cause, there's a real issue with the Skype update.
I seem to recall reading somewhere on the Skype website that the previous MSI version must be manually uninstalled before installing the new version. However, in your setup.py file, I don't see anything indicating that the previous version has been uninstalled. And that's where my expertise ends, because while I can manage changing the silent install tags or the uninstallkey, the rest...
I hope I've been able to contribute something and help you, and thank you again for your work.
PS: Sorry for the mistakes and awkward phrasing, but given the time, I couldn't do any better.
