[SOLVED] Uninstalling Microsoft Teams

Microsoft is forcing Microsoft Teams on us through the O365 update system. It installs a "Teams Machine-Wide Installer" MSI, which then installs the application in the user's ProgramData directory every time they log in. The installer gets tangled up in the domain's SRP policy and displays an error message to the user. It's a truly disgusting installation method, worthy of malware...

Since we don't use Teams, the solution is to uninstall the "Teams Machine-Wide Installer" MSI. Is it possible with WAPT to force the uninstallation of this package, which wasn't installed with WAPT, and to do so permanently? If Microsoft forces the installer on us again, I want it uninstalled once more...

Thank you.

Good morning,

There is currently a consensus that the installation of Microsoft Teams in the enterprise is one of the most infamous pieces of crap ever released by Microsoft.

In our package, created in collaboration with a WAPT Enterprise client, we have included uninstallation: https://store.wapt.fr/store/details-tis ... ndows.wapt

The source code is as follows:

Code: Select all

    for software in installed_softwares("Microsoft Teams"):
        run_notfatal('"msiexec" /qn /norestart /X {}'.format(software['key']))
Put it in an empty package in the install section and that should do the trick

Hi,

thanks for the reply.

I've pretty much done that too. I've also enabled the GPO so that Teams doesn't reinstall itself in the future. The WAPT package is used to remove the app from machines where it has already been deployed, and the GPO prevents it from being redeployed by Microsoft.
