[In progress] Displaying details in the WAPT Self-service taskbar

Good morning,

I use WAPT Starter to quickly update the computers of relatives who are not comfortable with administering a personal computer (and to teach them how to do it as simply as I do on my Debian with Synaptic).

Recently, an update to tis-ultracopter was problematic (error loop, update impossible, subsequently marked as uninstalled while still displaying a pending update notification). I was able to resolve the issue by uninstalling Ultracopier from the "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features" window and installing the new version (2.2.4.8-6) from WAPT Self-Service (Starter).

However, if I had needed to ask for help on this forum, I would have been very hard-pressed to Copy the details of the current task that appear below the progress bar into the "Taskbar" pane when an error occursIndeed, the area is not resizable (only the table above it is) It lacks scroll bars and, most importantly, does not allow copy-pasting. The overhanging right and lower sections become illegible.

Example :

Code: Select all

Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "C:\Program Files (x86)\wapt\waptservice\service.[suite illisible]
line 1890, in run
self running task run()[ligne devinée grâce au haut des lettres]
Finding this software very practical in other respects, I wanted to contribute, within the limits of my skills, by indicating in this forum the user comfort issues I encounter (starting with this one).

Can we expect a modification to the WAPT Self-service window that corrects the problem described above?

Out of curiosity: on the "Team" page of the Tranqui IT website, I don't see any staff with UX/UI designer skills, and this position doesn't appear on the "Join Us" page either What do you think of this type of job and do you see any use for improving WAPT? (Personally, on the Fediverse, I have been able to observe the qualitative improvement of several projects that have recruited staff with these skills: it's exceptional!).

Hello!

Thank you for your feedback. I've just escalated the issue to the technical team. We've created a dedicated ticket.

We don't currently have a UX designer on our team. However, the technical team is working closely with the communications department to implement graphic improvements for the next version of WAPT. Therefore, we don't plan to recruit this type of profile at the moment.

Have a good day!

Thank you for forwarding my request! How can I track the progress of this ticket? Is it public, or does it remain internal (I'm not comfortable with GitHub and couldn't find anything)? Should I follow this thread or the ticket itself?

Thank you also for your transparency regarding internal procedures; I wasn't aware that the communications department also handled this aspect.

Hello!

Yes, the ticket has been created internally. The fix will be added to the next version of WAPT. We haven't announced a date yet, however.

Our communications department handles all the "graphic" aspects of the company. Obviously, this doesn't replace a UX/UI designer. Nevertheless, collaboration with the technical team can bring real added value to the console, at least initially.

Have a good day!
