from what I've observed (correct me if I'm wrong), Wapt currently uses Python version 2.7.
However, I saw on the Python website that this version will no longer be supported as of January 2020.
Is a migration to Python 3 planned?

Yes, absolutely, the next major update of WAPT will indeed be in Python 3.
