[SOLVED] WUA - Windows 11 upgrade 22H2

Hello,
we're looking to upgrade our machines currently running Windows 11 to Windows 11 22H2.
With WSUS, it's possible to perform an upgrade without reinstalling the entire OS.
With WAPT, the ISO is required, and the installation seems much more involved (a complete OS reinstallation?).
Is there an equivalent solution to WSUS with WAPT?
Thanks!

Good morning,
I didn't say anything

:
Major Operating System Updates
Major operating system upgrades are upgrades from one operating system version to another. This includes, for example, upgrades from Windows 7 to Windows 10, or from Windows 10 version 1903 to Windows 10 version 20H2.
Major version upgrades are not handled in the same way as minor operating system upgrades. Major upgrades are handled by downloading the contents of the new ISO installation (the same contents as for a clean installation) and running setup.exe with the correct parameters. This process is the same for Windows WSUS, SCCM, and WAPT updates.
In the case of Windows WAPT updates, you must create an operating system update package using a template package provided at
https://store.wapt.fr.
THANKS.

Hi smandel,
let's see if there's a KB available now. If it's available in WSUS, then it should be. It might be a bit simpler than with the ISO, although it probably won't change much.
I'll open an internal ticket and mark the topic as RESOLVED.
Regards,
Denis

Hello dcardon,
In fact, when you look in WSUS there is a type of update called "Upgrades".
And when we look at the downloaded files from these upgrades, we generally have 2 files:
- An ESD file that is around 4GB
But no reference to a KB...

Hello,
I just tried it on two different machines, and indeed, if you create a package for the KB5015684 MSU, it works:
https://catalog.s.download.windowsupdat ... 634c4a.msu.
At the time you wrote this, the MSU wasn't yet available.
The file is only 200 KB and doesn't download anything else.
If I understand correctly
(https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/top ... fd704eee61)
, Windows 10, versions 2004, 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, and 22H2 share a common core operating system with an identical set of system files
. So, it does work. It's very disconcerting... but it works...

It works great!
By any chance, do you have a link to the 32-bit MSU?

Hi Thomas,
regarding Windows 11, Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit versions, so there's no 32-bit upgrade MSU...
