Good morning,

I am currently testing your WAPT solution.

I installed the WAPT server on a Debian system. The console is running on Windows 7.

I don't have Active Directory (and therefore no domain) and I'm running my tests as a user without administrator privileges. When I try to install a package from a browser, I get a login/password request for an admin account:

Is there a way to allow software installation without needing to enter administrator account credentials?

Best regards,
Yohann

Hello,
I have a quick question unrelated to your problem: why don't you have an Active Directory (AD) account? It's very easy to create one with Samba4 (http://dev.tranquil.it/wiki/SAMBA_-_Ins ... au_domaine ).
Normally, if the user is a member of the waptselfservice AD group, they can install software with Wapt without administrator privileges.
I'm not sure if Wapt searches the local groups on the waptselfservice machine; please check and let me know in this thread.

Thanks Yvan for your feedback.

A local waptselservice group doesn't allow bypassing the login popup. Too bad...

To answer your question, we're using Zimbra's LDAP, and it seemed sufficient. But we're realizing we have significant gaps in our endpoint tracking, and users are doing whatever they want with their laptops. So we're looking for solutions.

Hello, I'm reviving this thread to point out a typo in your answer yohann, it's the waptselfservice group, and it works when this group is local (it also works in AD group).
