[RESOLVED] Sweet Home 3D Package

Hello,

The tis-sweethome3d package from the store doesn't work in version 7.6-4.

Installation via the self-service option is successful, but the software doesn't launch and remains stuck on the SweetHome intro screen.

The previous version, 7.5-4, works fine.

Note that both versions install as x86, while my PC is x64.

WAPT Enterprise version 2.6.0.16937.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks

Best regards

, Edouard

Hi Edouard,

Yes, version 7.6 did encounter a bug.
The development team responded and the version has been rolled back to 7.5.

We will update the store by removing the problematic version.

You can find the developer team's feedback regarding this issue here: https://sourceforge.net/p/sweethome3d/bugs/1314/

Regards,

Hello Edouard,

To my knowledge, there's only one installer version for Windows. Do you have a specific link for the 64-bit version?

Sincerely,

Denis

Hello Denis,
No, there's no specific installer; it's the same for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

However, during manual installation, you can choose the 64-bit version (see attached image).
With the WAPT self-service installer, even on a 64-bit Windows PC, it automatically installs the 32-bit version.

Edouard

Hi again Edouard,

thanks for the feedback. Is there a silent installation flag we can pass to the installer to automatically choose the 64-bit version? Apparently, the installer doesn't do it on its own.

Or at least, it doesn't take the correct environment variables into account: the WAPT service is currently running in 32-bit, and it's possible that the Sweet Home 3D installer is using inherited environment properties rather than relying on the machine's capabilities.

For your information, the WAPT agent runs without any problems in 64-bit on Windows, but the seamless transition from a 32-bit installer to a 64-bit installer on an already installed network isn't trivial (the key is the seamlessness, meaning a 100% successful migration). We also provide 32-bit and 64-bit installers for Intel and ARM Arch Linux.

Since almost all Windows machines are now 64-bit, we'll be looking into offering both a 64-bit and a 32-bit installer.

Regards,

Denis

Unfortunately, there's no flag for 64-bit installation.
It's not a problem with the WAPT agent, but rather with the Sweet Home installer.

When installing silently from the Sweet Home executable, the 32-bit version installs by default.
Apparently, 64-bit installation is only possible in graphical mode.

Thank you for your help,

Edouard.

Hi again Edouard,

thanks for the reply.

You can check the Sweet Home 3D forum to see if there's a way to force a silent 64-bit installation. I took a quick look at the installer's innosetup source file, but there wasn't anything obvious. Perhaps they can provide some answers on their forum...

Best regards,

Denis
