Wapt version: 2.6.0.16795 - Enterprise Edition
Server OS: Debian 12
Target machines: Windows 10 and 11
Administration machine: Windows Server 2022

Hello,

we are experiencing a problem uninstalling the Chrome package from the self-service interface. Even when we click "uninstall," nothing happens and no error message appears in the administration console.

Hello,

Is Chrome installed as a dependency on your machines?
If so, that explains why we can't uninstall the package. Since it's listed as a dependency on the system, it remains installed.

Best regards

Hello again,

and to add to Jordan's answer, it's true that the behavior isn't very intuitive... We'll try adding a popup to explain the reason for the installation refusal: either a direct dependency on the machine package, an OU package, a profile package, a group package, or a dependency on another software package.

Regards,

Denis

Hello,

thank you for your answers, but no, Chrome is not a dependency.

Hello,

I'm still having trouble uninstalling Chrome from the self-service interface despite upgrading to version 2.6.0.17177.

Hello,

the source of the error was found: the Chrome package was assigned to an upstream "OU": I would have thought that WAPT would allow us to uninstall it and then reinstall it afterwards, but there was nothing we could do...

Hello Cédric,
clafon wrote: May 27, 2025 - 08:33 Source of the error found: the chrome package was assigned to an upstream "OU": I would have thought that wapt would allow us to uninstall it and then reinstall it afterwards, but there was nothing we could do...
Indeed, that was the behavior in older versions of Wapt. But it can cause problems in certain cases (for example, with antivirus software...). :-) ).

Therefore, you cannot uninstall software that is assigned to a machine, only software that has been added in addition to the target configuration.

However, it's true that we could add an explanatory message. We're completely redesigning the self-service interface, so we'll see about adding a message at the same time.

Sincerely,

Denis
