[SOLVED] Problem with Ubuntu 24.04 installation

Good morning,

At the end of July, I was on WAPT Server version 2.6.0.17293 and I was able to deploy Ubuntu 24.04 without any particular problems.

I updated WAPT Server to version 2.6.0.17392 and I just noticed that the Ubuntu deployment was failing at the beginning of the installation.
The error is 'Unable to find a live system on the network'.

To be sure, I just recreated a blank deployment configuration:
- by loading a config from the config_ubuntu_desktop.conf file on which I remove everything from the late-commands line.
- by loading the IPXE script from the ubuntu.ipxe file
But the problem is still there.

I was wondering if there was a modification to the ubuntu.ipxe file in the latest updates.

Sincerely

Good morning,

This machine has 32GB of RAM.

Would it be possible for you to test an Ubuntu installation on your end, perhaps?

[edit] After looking on various forums, it seems to be a matter of the kernel, initrd, and iso versions not being identical. The 'ignore_uuid' option added to the kernel line seems to solve my problem. I don't know why this Ubuntu-related error is occurring now. [/edit]

Hello,

good catch! I just realized why Ubuntu 24.04.3 was just released, and the URL specified in the IPXE script is 24.04.2.

Ubuntu updated the initrd to the corresponding link, so it's a mismatch. I'll check if that's the issue. (I'll try tomorrow)

Good catch, I just understood why. It's because Ubuntu 24.04.3 has just been released, and the URL indicated in the IPXE script is 24.04.2.

Ubuntu updated the initrd to the corresponding link, so it's a mismatch. I'll check if that's the problem. (I'll try tomorrow)
Good morning,

Yes, you're right, that was it :)
I corrected the path to the ISO this morning in the IPXE configuration and everything is working correctly again

Code: Select all

kernel http://releases.ubuntu.com/noble/netboot/amd64/linux initrd=initrd root=/dev/ram0 ip=dhcp cloud-config-url={{server_url}}api/v3/get_wads_config?mac_address=${net0/mac}&conf_only=true&ip_address=${net0/ip}&uuid=${uuid} url=https://releases.ubuntu.com/24.04.3/ubuntu-24.04.3-live-server-amd64.iso autoinstall
initrd http://releases.ubuntu.com/noble/netboot/amd64/initrd
boot

Thanks for the feedback.

We need to find a latest URL for Ubuntu, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to exist: :(

https://releases.ubuntu.com/24.04.3/ubu ... -amd64.iso
