[RESOLVED] Confusion issue with the current Picoscope package between the two versions of Pico Technology
Published: Dec 18, 2025 - 4:27 PM
Hello,
Following a request from a physics professor in our Chemistry Department at the Robert Schuman University Institute of Technology (IUT), who uses Pico Technology USB oscilloscopes for electronic physical measurement labs, I updated the Picoscope T@M software package, which manages these oscilloscopes, from the WAPT store and deployed it to the computers in the requested lab. What I noticed, and what the professor pointed out to me, is that the version of Picoscope installed in the package is incorrect. There's a mix-up between two versions offered by Pico Technology, as the URL for the wrong version was used in the update_package.py file.
Pico Technology offers two versions of the Picoscope software:
- Picoscope T&M, downloadable from https://www.picotech.com, allows you to manage standard USB oscilloscopes for physical measurements in the lab or during practical sessions.
Picoscope Automotive, downloadable from https://www.picoauto.com, allows you to manage oscilloscopes for car test benches and analysis.
When I corrected the URL of the update_package.py file, I noticed that its script, which downloads the latest stable version of the installation executable, no longer works. After some modifications and unsuccessful tests, I decided to delete the update_package.py file and manually copy the executable file while I look for a solution.
Could you please correct the update_package.py file to automatically download the correct version, namely Picoscope T@M?
Thank you,
Best regards,
Renaud Schmitt
