[RESOLVED] Console tab navigation freezes after update 2.6.1.17870

Good morning,

We have just updated to the latest stable version (2.6.1.17870) and we are experiencing a lot of console freezes when trying to move between the different tabs (Inventory, Private Repository, Windows Update...).

Exporting a machine to the OS deployment also freezes the console for 1 minute.

The problem occurs when the driver list is updated; it freezes the console, and the server's "wapt" and "www-data" processes consume a significant amount of resources. We currently have 213 entries in the driver section.

Code: Select all

"GET /api/v3/get_driver_bundle_names HTTP/1.1" 200 18395356 "-" "waptconsole/2.6.1.17870A"
This also occurs when refreshing the list of Windows updates in WUA.

Code: Select all

"GET /api/v3/windows_updates HTTP/1.1" 200 6904386 "-" "waptconsole/2.6.1.17870A"
Thank you for your feedback.

Remy

Discussed with Rémy:
- For Windows updates, one KB in particular (Silverlight update) has a very large list of URLs (10MB) and significantly slows down loading => delete this KB from the server's database.
- For driver bundles, the console code in version 2.6 unnecessarily loads the entire server content into the grid (list of files/hashes for each driver pack). Backporting the server code for the get_driver_bundle_names endpoint from version 2.7 resolves the issue.

Hi Hubert,

Could you paste the command you used to remove the KB from the server here?

Thanks

Good evening,
You need to identify Windows updates that have an excessively large download_urls column

on the server:

Code: Select all

sudo -u wapt psql

Code: Select all

select update_id,title,pg_column_size(download_urls) from wsusupdates where pg_column_size(download_urls)>10000;
then erase

Code: Select all

delete from wsusupdates where update_id=' 7f8b9228-75de-4b5a-80........';
