[RESOLVED] Wapt server update

Hello,
I was looking into updating our wapt server 2.6.1.17870 which runs on debian bookworm in debian trixie.
But reading the procedure, I see that it's necessary to upgrade the PostgreSQL version from 15 to 17.

However, looking at my server, I see that I have 4 instances, including 3 different up versions of PostgreSQL:

root@waptsrv:~# pg_lsclusters
Ver Cluster Port Status Owner Data directory Log file
9.6 main 5433 down postgres /var/lib/postgresql/9.6/main /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-9.6-main.log
11 main 5432 online postgres /var/lib/postgresql/11/main /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-11-main.log
13 main 5434 online postgres /var/lib/postgresql/13/main /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-13-main.log
15 main 5435 online postgres /var/lib/postgresql/15/main

down the services one by one, I see that all the data is obviously on PostgreSQL 11.

Do you have a procedure to at least upgrade to version 15?

Thank you and have a good day!

Hi Guillaume,

indeed, Debian doesn't necessarily force the PostgreSQL cluster upgrade during major version upgrades. A major PostgreSQL update involves dumping and restoring the database, which can take time, CPU, and disk space. So there are cases where it's better to do it separately.

Anyway, I like topics that close themselves, :-)

Denis.
