not really knowing where to post this, I'm writing here...
The VS Code installer's issues seem to have changed:
the "Open with VS Code" menu is no longer there by default:

addcontextmenufiles
addcontextmenufolders.

I re-installed the package locally, changing this on line 15 of setup.py...
