Indeed, we intend to upgrade to 4.11. I'll let you know what happens then.
What would you recommend to upgrade two active DCs?
As we are going to perform an OS upgrade too (ubunu18 => ubuntu20), can we just stop samba services, upgrade packages and OS then relaunch samba, or do we have to demote ...

Re: samba4 syncpasswords
Hi, we use a quite old packaged version of Samba (4.7.6) from ubuntu18 repositories.
The dbcheck have been allready done in fix mode.
What do you mean by downgrade? Nothing has changed, the new dc which was joined had same samba version.
I actually intend to make my own script and to bypass samba ...

samba4 syncpasswords
Hello,
I recently experienced an issue with password synchronization between samba4 and a remote LDAP.
I used your script syncpwd.py which did work for a while. Then one month ago someone joined a new DC to the domain and it crashed the syncpasswords service with the following error:

Re: Samba4 and OpenLDAP Password Synchronization
Answering myself, the exception was simply due to the fact that the remote ldap could no longer write (full partition...)

Re: Samba4 and OpenLDAP Password Synchronization
Hello,
has anyone tested this script under Ubuntu 18?
I should mention that the setup is exactly the same as the one I used on Red Hat 7, which worked perfectly.
I even modified the script to synchronize the users' Samba4 passwords to the field...

Re: Samba4 and OpenLDAP Password Synchronization
Hello,
I'm replying to myself, but from a different perspective.
My previous tests were performed on Red Hat 7 with your packages in version 4.6.4.
Having encountered quite a few problems with replication topologies, I switched back to a more conventional platform, Ubuntu 18 and Samba 4.7.6...

Samba 4.8.5 dependency problems
Hello,
I'm currently trying to install your Samba 4.8.5 version on Red Hat 7 systems from your CentOS repositories.
I've resolved some dependency issues, but I'm stuck on one last problem:
---> The package samba.x86_64 0:4.8.5-0.0.el7 will be installed
--> Processing dependency...

Re: Samba4 and OpenLDAP Password Synchronization
Hello,
I'm replying to myself. I solved the problem, which apparently stemmed from the fact that the password had never been changed on the Samba4 side. Once the passwords were changed for a few test users, it worked.
I was then able to test password synchronization from Samba4...

Re: Samba4 and OpenLDAP Password Synchronization
Hello,
I just tested the script on a Samba4 4.5.12 (Debian Stretch) system, and I'm getting the following error in the syslog, which I don't know how to interpret.
The users are found correctly, but the synchronization fails:
Feb 1 12:18:10 dc1 samba-syncpasswords[18022]: dn:
