Hello everyone,
I have a quick question about adding package dependencies to a PC.
Let's say I already have Acrobat Reader installed on a machine, and I add the Adobe Reader package from the internet to my repositories via WAPT, and then add a dependency on my machine. Will the package be reinstalled? Or does it depend on the software?
Currently, I have "Microsoft Apps for Business - fr -fr" installed on my machine. Except that I wanted to be able to update my Office apps from WAPT, so I added the Microsoft Office 365 package from the WAPT repositories (described as "Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise"). However, once the dependency was added to the PC, it invalidated my license, and now in my Control Panel, I have two programs: "Microsoft Apps for Business - fr -fr" and "Microsoft Apps for Enterprise - fr -fr". Ideally, I'd like to know how this works before adding dependencies to other computers on the network (specifically, whether I'll need to log in to reconnect my Microsoft account for each dependency).
I have the same issue with Thunderbird, where I now have two different versions.
It's worth noting that I don't have this problem with programs like Wireshark, Edge, or Chrome, which I already had installed and then added as dependencies. Wapt doesn't create duplicates for me.
Thank you for your feedback and have a good day.

Hello Augustin,
* Regarding Java, I think it's related to having both a 32-bit and a 64-bit version installed (note: be careful with Oracle Java licenses; starting with version 8.201, Oracle Java is no longer free, hence the different package names for the free and non-free versions).
* For MS 365, you need to edit the XML file to specify whether it's a Business or Enterprise edition (but I didn't know you could install both at the same time... that could also explain the licensing issue).
* For Thunderbird, it's quite strange; the Thunderbird installation setup.exe should have detected the old installation and updated it. Could you check the registry settings for both Thunderbird instances (especially the installation directory and uninstallation key)?
For Chrome, you need to check the error message/code returned by the MSI (it should be a little further down in the console log). This could be related to another installation in progress, the need for a reboot, etc. It's very likely the error has disappeared in the meantime.
Regards,
Denis

Hello,
For Chrome, it resolved itself, indeed.
Regarding Java, possibly yes, both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I uninstalled one manually (the one that didn't specify 64-bit) and there were no license issues.
For the Office part, we're referring to the configuration.xml file when editing the package, right?
As for Thunderbird, I have one (the older version) installed in the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird" while the newer one is in "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird".
If we look at the display name, as in the screenshot below, everything suggests that both are 64-bit. However, it's impossible to launch the older version.
It seems to only happen on my PC; the others appear to be OK. I'll check and remove the older version if necessary.

Hello Augustin,
According to the screenshot, Thunderbird launches fine, it's just that Thunderbird 32bit noticed that the profile has been modified and is no longer compatible.
However, it seems that the Thunderbird installer renames the 32-bit Thunderbird registry key during installation. This is rather curious behavior from the Thunderbird installer...
For Office, yes, you need to modify the configuration.xml file and change the key.<Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
