Congratulation!!!
Just a quick message to congratulate you. I was surprised to find a link to your documentation in the official Samba documentation (in the "hardening Samba" section). Hats off to you! I didn't know your collaboration with Samba was so extensive. Well done!
Thank you Vincent38 for your message.
Tranquil IT has been working with the core Samba team since 2017, raising funds from mostly public organizations (literally, your taxes at work!
) to improve Samba, particularly Samba-AD.
For example, the work of Tranquil IT and its funding partners is responsible for approximately half of the AD features included in the latest 4.19, 4.20, and 4.21 changelogs.
Some of our team members are currently working with Douglas Bagnall and Jo Sutton from Catalyst in New Zealand to fix a few bugs found in 4.21, and then we can say that we'll be almost on par with Microsoft AD in terms of security and functionality in a single-forest, single-domain environment.
Tranquil IT's openly stated strategy is to combine Samba-AD tools with WAPT to provide our sysadmin colleagues and friends with secure, high-performance, and integrated tools for easily managing a fleet of users, machines, and applications.
