[SOLVED] Creating a pseudo-uninstall key in the registry

Hello everyone,

there's a Python command on WAPT that I can't remember.

The idea is to create a package that doesn't create an uninstallation key in the registry by default. What's the command that allows you to register a key that will ultimately serve more as an installation tag than as an uninstallation key?


I used it in the past but I've forgotten how.

There is indeed the following function which allows you to create a key in the registry:

register_uninstall(
    uninstallkey,
    uninstallstring=None,
    win64app=None,
    quiet_uninstall_string=None,
    install_location=None,
    display_name=None,
    display_version=None,
    publisher=None,
    icon=None,
    installed_size=None,
) 

Next, you need to remember to delete this key in the uninstall() function using the function registry_deletekey(root, path, keyname, force=False, recursive=False)

Is your goal simply to check if the software is properly installed?

Ah, great, thank you.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Indeed, with some home installations, there isn't necessarily an entry in the registry.
At least, in this specific case, it allows us to know whether or not a computer has received a particular installation.
