Hello,
I installed a print server with the help of your documentation and the official Samba documentation, however, I'm having trouble installing the printer.
I installed a printer with a raw driver on CUPS using ipp://@printer_ip/queue
, then I downloaded the PCL6 driver from RSAT printer management (I added my CUPS server to my server). This works; my driver is downloaded correctly and I can see it in the interface.
However, when I try to associate it with my printer in "Printer Management," an error message appears: "The printer settings could not be saved. Access denied." Therefore, the association fails, and I don't understand why.
Is it due to a permissions issue? And if so, on which directory?
1777 on /var/spool/samba
, and the permissions you suggested in your configuration.
Just one question: the mention of different directories for XP and Windows 7 doesn't exist in the official documentation.
Thank you very much. Sincerely,
Eric
CUPS SAMBA Problem
Hello,
the problem was solved by reinstalling CUPS and restarting the server. Then I changed the driver directories in /srv as recommended on the Samba4 website. It works very well, and the printers are working fine. However, the Samba website recommends using the raw driver for CUPS, but none of the printers work with it.
I had to use the recommended CUPS drivers for each printer, otherwise, I lost connection every time. Otherwise, everything else works fine.
Thanks, Eric
