Installed WAPT version: WAPT Server: 1.7.4
Server OS: Debian 9.9
Operating system of the administration/package creation machine: Windows 10

Hello everyone,

I have recently started using WAPT to manage my IT infrastructure (a few dozen Windows workstations in a town hall), and this tool is incredibly practical.
I started by creating my own packages by following the guides on the Tranquil IT website, then I quickly made life easier for myself by retrieving ready-made packages from the Internet repository.

While browsing this forum, I read here and there that certain actions were possible via WAPT, but I'm not sure I understood how to do it.
There are several things I would like to be able to do with WAPT:
  • to set LibreOffice as the default application for opening all office documents, including Microsoft documents.
    I'm currently using the tis-libreoffice-still package; perhaps it would be enough to modify certain parameters so that during installation, it sets LibreOffice as the default application for doc(x), xls(x), and ppt(x) files, since this is an option offered during manual installation?
  • Set Firefox as your default internet browser
  • Add URL shortcuts to the desktop or pin them to the taskbar
  • modifying registry keys using a .reg file
  • automatically configure the Nextcloud client with my server
  • Automatically configure the Rocket.Chat client with my server
  • automatically configure LightBulb
Could you help me perform these actions with WAPT?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback on WAPT, it always puts a smile on our faces. :D

All these questions concern the typical use of WAPT packages. To better understand the tool and meet your needs, perhaps you could consider one of our training courses, which are affordable and allow you to:
1. discover features you may not yet be familiar with;
2. delve deeper into package creation and thus develop your specific requirements with us;
3. support the WAPT Community in a simple and useful way. :)
You can contact me directly at the office to discuss this:
Camille FARGUES, +33 2 40 97 57 55.

I'll let the WAPT community take over to help you. ;)

Have a good day,
Camille

1) The video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdKk6-2HpbM (Advanced Thunderbird configurations with WAPT) may serve as inspiration.

2) go to https://store.wapt.fr and search for packages that might contain "session_setup" files for inspiration. Furthermore, I'm going to look into how to improve the search functions to make finding sources of inspiration easier

3) Choose Camille's excellent solution ;) Because it is true that WAPT is increasingly used in local authorities, and training funds are fairly easy to obtain from the Director General of Services and the elected official in charge of IT, provided they are shown the benefits of well-managed municipal IT

4) Launch on the forum the idea of a store for local authorities, run by sysadmins in local government who are already familiar with WAPT and would like to share

5) propose to Tranquil IT to create a sub-forum dedicated to community support for local authorities (which we know very well because Tranquil IT carried out 5% of the mergers of municipalities in France following the entry into force of the Notre law).

Sincerely.
