Hello,

For some time now, I've been having problems installing this particular update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -kb4530684

On some machines it installs perfectly, on others it doesn't.
Have you ever encountered this problem with this particular update? If so, how can I prevent it from failing?

, indeed the download is now working, but the installation isn't.

I confess I don't really know why... as you can see in the logs, WAPT simply provides the CAB to the Windows Update service, then asks it to launch the pending installations, and finally sends the result back to the WAPT server.

Your case doesn't seem to be isolated online:

I will therefore continue my investigation.

To clarify, I tried to install the update manually, and it worked... however, when WAPT does another scan afterwards, it indicates that the update is in error with the forbidden logo.

Furthermore, I launched the scan from the command prompt and here is the error returned:

I can't understand why the update works correctly manually but not automatically via Wapt.

If the cab is listed as forbidden, then it's because it's not authorized on the machine (bad wsus package).

Otherwise, it would appear as missing (the plus sign).

Regarding the error, is the command prompt running as administrator?

Test #1: I deleted the .cab from my main repo, which resulted in the .cab being deleted from my remote repos. I re-downloaded the update via the console, and the .cab was correctly redeployed to all repos.

Update installation failed

A particularity noted is the permission on this update in the waptwua folder:

However, some machines were able to install the update successfully, so the incident would not be coming from there, but I wanted to point it out.

Test #2: I removed the wapt agent, deleted the computer from the database via the console, and reinstalled the agent.

Are you absolutely certain that it works when you install it manually? That seems strange to me.

A new wsusscn2.cab file should be released tonight or tomorrow; we'll see if the update is replaced, as that might resolve your issue.
