Hello everyone,

In the context of the current health crisis, many of us have had to adapt to a new way of working: remote work.

In this context, how are you using WAPT? Has the software been useful to you? And if so, in what ways?

This thread is open; everyone is welcome to share their experience and perhaps offer ideas and solutions to others.

Have a good day!
Take care!

Hello Camille,

Thank you for this initiative. :-)
We are a training center, and all of our centers were closed at the beginning of the week.
On Friday, we deployed the VPN configuration to all our workstations via a Group Policy Object (GPO).
Our 250 employees went home on Monday with their workstations (PC/monitor/keyboard/mouse) in tow.
Fortunately, all these workstations (tiny small factor) can also work via Wi-Fi, thus facilitating connections with personal routers.

We use OpenSense (a fork of pfSense) as our firewall, and the chosen solution is IPsec IKEv2 (+ RADIUS) because it is native to Windows and does not require additional installation.
Currently, we have approximately 100 simultaneous connections on the VPN at any given time, and everything seems to be handling the load.

We (the IT department) can provide remote access via our internal tool already deployed (dameware) or via the free AnyDesk tool when necessary.

All our trainers are working hard to create content for our new Distance Learning platform, which we prematurely and urgently put into production.

Regarding telephony, we urgently doubled the capacity of our SIP trunk and launched a WebRTC tool allowing users to independently manage their call forwarding (our IP PBX is based on Wazo).

We hope this feedback will be helpful.
Best of luck to everyone and stay safe. :-)

Hello,
thank you for this topic.
We were already using WAPT for remote work, as it's widely used.
WAPT helps us automatically install the VPN on all laptops.
Through self-service, it also allows us to make certain software available that isn't pre-installed on the workstations.
This is because we provided new laptops to those who didn't have a dedicated workstation for remote work.

Our VPN is managed by a Pulse Secure appliance.

WAPT is helping us well beyond the current crisis by resolving many underlying issues.

Best of luck to everyone.

Hello,

at our company, WAPT, combined with MDT, allowed us to deploy 10 new laptops received on Monday morning. They were ready by 11:00 AM.

As usual, WAPT can be integrated almost anywhere.

I had to urgently deploy "VDI" VMs, something we never normally do.

Initially, I performed the deployment via PXE (MDT + WAPT), but the deployment time proved too long (1 hour 10 minutes per VM).
So, I changed my approach. I created a Windows 10 VM template and placed the waptdeploy file in a folder within it. I modified my virtual machine customization in my vCenter to integrate the installation and deployment of WAPT packages.

Picture

Result: 20 minutes to deploy a VM.

All our laptops are managed with WAPT, which greatly simplifies software deployment for remote workers. I just deployed MS Teams on another laptop.

Once again, WAPT Enterprise saved me a significant amount of time deploying the Windows update that patched the latest SMB vulnerability.

In short, WAPT is a joy, especially during times like these.

Good morning,
I see "guacamole client" in your screenshot. Are you using the Apache Guacamole solution?https://guacamole.apache.org/)
If so, I would be interested in discussing this with you
Have a good day everyone and stay strong!

Tranquil IT posted on its blog how it reorganized in anticipation of implementing remote work. WAPT and the guys you know from the forum handled it brilliantly.

We hope you find it an entertaining read that will give you a glimpse into the company's hectic daily life.

Happy reading and have a good laugh.

Hello,

I'm a fleet manager in an infrastructure of 120 machines.
We've been using Wapt for 4 years.

In the current situation, Wapt has allowed us to deploy the VPN client on all the machines in the fleet that weren't equipped, as well as the client software used for chat and video conferencing.

This has allowed staff to take their devices home, and we can continue to update all their software via the VPN.

Have a good day,

Good morning,

May I contact you to discuss your Wazo solution?
We need to leave Xivo and are looking for a fallback solution.
