samba4 - just a member of an existing domain, is that possible?

I'm planning to install a Samba4 server on a Debian Jessie 8.x system, but we already have a domain controller on a Windows 2000 server (...) which we currently can't get rid of at all.

I've started reading your documentation, but it's still quite unclear, hence my question:

- Is it possible to install and configure Samba4 as a simple member of an existing domain, in order to take advantage of its other features?
