Hello,

First of all, thank you for your RPMs, which come with their source code.

Following an issue with my 4.14.5 builds for EL7, I realized there was probably an unsolvable problem with gnutls under RHEL7 (7.9) and Samba 4.13.z/4.14.z.
Since you (Tranquil IT) have apparently reached the same conclusions, I'd like to know if you have a little more detail on the problem?

Looking at http://samba.tranquil.it/centos7/ and http://samba.tranquil.it/centos8, I can see that you stopped producing RPMs for EL7 after Samba 4.12.z; I should have checked your repositories before. :) (I produced a whole series of RPMs for 4.13.z EL7 without testing them; they are probably all broken).

If you have any information so I can at least know in retrospect what happened with gnutls in EL7 and Samba 4.13+...

It's just out of curiosity, I now have LEAPP my build chains in EL8.4.

Thanks,

Vincent

Hello,
there were starting to be too many packages to backport for it to work properly. And I confess I don't remember exactly when we gave up... Furthermore, the switch to EL8 greatly simplifies compatibility with Fedora's upstream packages and made the porting process much easier.

Denis

Hi Denis,
I get the impression you had to throw in the towel before 4.13.z. (I should have, too...)
I just did the same...
strangely enough, to build under RHEL8 but without EPEL, I needed quite a few packages.
I'll compare our .specs to see where we stand.
Thanks,
Vincent

We enable EPEL by default for our EL7 and EL8 builds, so we haven't had any issues with missing packages. We started with the Fedora .spec files rather than upgrading our CentOS 7 .spec files because many things are simpler with up-to-date package versions.
