Thanks, but what I'm missing is the WAPT server configuration; I don't know how or where to install it. I have a Windows server on my network that manages the domain. So I assume I need to install WAPTserver on that server (which handles DHCP, WSUS, and DNS). However, it's specified that the WAPT console shouldn't be installed on the server dedicated to WAPT. So I need to add a new PC to run the console, right? And a PC within the domain?

You need to perform the installation with a local administrator account. You can restart the installation as Gaëtan indicatedMax.R wrote: ↑Apr 13, 2022 - 3:32 PMWAPT 2.2 discoverydcardon wrote: ↑Apr 13, 2022 - 2:17 PM WAPT discovery? WAPT Enterprise? See forum rules.
Do you have the WAPT server interface at http://localhost ?
c:\wapt\wapt-get.exe --version?
sc query waptserver?
sc query waptpostgresql?
Did you perform the installation with a local admin account or a domain admin account?
No target
Version: 2.2.1.11899
waptserver and waptpostgresql not installed
domain administrator

The installation binary is the same for both the Enterprise and Discovery versions. The presence (or absence) of a license determines the operating mode.

Okay, so I can install WAPTserver version 2.2.1? Because I downloaded a community version 1.8.2 from here https://wapt.tranquil.it/release/wapt-1 ... -75a5de09/ But it doesn't work.
It seems to be working now, but I'd like some clarification on which machines can and cannot be in the domain.
It states, "The WAPT server installation must be performed using a local Administrator account on the host and NOT a domain Administrator account." Does this mean that once the server is configured locally, the machine can be moved back into the domain, or must it remain permanently outside the domain?
What about the machine running the console? Can it be placed in the domain?
I currently have three separate machines: a standard server for WSUS, DHCP, DNS, printing, etc.; a WAPT server; and a regular workstation in the domain running the WAPT console. Is this all normal?

Okay. And can we, for example, install a virtual machine (Hyper-V, for example) from a physical server that runs services like WSUS and IIS, and then install the WAPT server (outside the domain) on that virtual machine, and then install the console on the physical server? Or do the server and console necessarily have to be on machines that don't run the IIS or WSUS services that could cause conflicts?
Hello adgm11,
you're getting confused.
1) The WAPT server and the WAPT console MUST NOT be on the same machine for security reasons.
2) The WAPT server and the machine hosting the WAPT console CAN be joined to the domain.
3) At Tranquil IT, we recommend that the WAPT server not be placed on the server hosting WSUS or IIS because we know that many system administrators have difficulty configuring the coexistence of IIS and WAPT on the same IP address, even though it's technically possible with advanced configurations documented by Microsoft. Therefore, to save you this configuration effort, we recommend having two machines (virtual or physical).
