Hello,

I would like to rename the machines on the "WAPT Console", or at least change the description so I can find them more easily. Currently, if I change the name or description, it doesn't reflect the change.

Is this possible?

Sincerely,
Nathanael

Hello,

I'm also looking to rename the machines so I can easily distinguish and identify them.
Have you found a way to do this?
Thank you very much,

Currently, renaming the machine (Windows) works.
If in doubt, run `wapt-get register` on the machine if it doesn't work.
Perhaps a "refresh workstation inventory" from the console also works?

However, the FQDN name will change, and therefore its configuration package will also change; you will need to reconfigure your settings in the console.

Hello,
Yes, changing the PC name in Windows does work.
However, our PCs are named with a number and not with the users' first and last names.

It's much simpler to find a PC by the name of the person using it.

We need to see which machine naming strategy seems most effective.

We could also include the name of the employee using the PC in the description, which would avoid renaming the PC and therefore having to redo the WPAPT configuration.

Thank you for your reply.

So you can indeed use the job description, that's something that also works.

Hello,

Yes, I think I'll go with that; it's simple and practical (no need to restart the computer).

Thank you,
Nathanaël
